An 85-year-old cyclist was found with a serious head injury beside his bicycle on The Ridge, near Fir Tree Lane in Danbury, at 3.15pm on Friday, November 13. He was immediately taken to Addenbrookes Hospital but sadly passed away the following day.
Essex Police have launched an investigation into the unexplained accident. Sgt Alex Black of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit stated, “Nothing suggests he was hit by a vehicle or that any other vehicle was involved, but we must keep an open mind.”
The incident occurred during school-run time, with several schools located nearby. Police are appealing to anyone who saw the man cycling or noticed anything suspicious in the area to come forward with information.
