Prime Minister Announces Gradual Lockdown Easing with Schools Returning March 8 and Indoor Pubs from May 17

Detectives have charged a man with murder following the death of Jamie Simmons in Maidstone. Kent Police were called to a property on Cambridge Crescent at 9.13pm on Monday, 4 May 2020. Paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene, but Mr Simmons was pronounced dead there.

Kieron Nicholson, 29, from East Farleigh, was arrested just 25 minutes later at 9.38pm. The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate immediately took over the investigation. On Wednesday 6 May, the Crown Prosecution Service officially charged Nicholson with murder. He has since been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court.

In addition, a second 29-year-old man from Maidstone, who was also arrested on suspicion of murder, has been released on bail and is required to return on 2 June. A woman in her 20s from Tonbridge, arrested in connection with the case, has been released pending further inquiries.
