A 21-year-old man has been charged with murder following the discovery of a man found dead in a Longhedge home. Alfie Miller, from Willow Drive, Durrington, was charged with the killing of 52-year-old Darren Hughes.

Mr Hughes was found deceased at a property on Davies Road on Friday, 3 May. Miller appeared at Swindon Magistrates Court on 6 May and has been remanded in custody.

The next hearing for Miller is scheduled to take place at Winchester Crown Court on 7 May.

Wiltshire Police have confirmed that specialist officers are providing support to Darren Hughes’s family, who have requested privacy during this difficult time.

Residents in Longhedge should expect a continued heavy police presence as investigations progress. Detectives are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson said, “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of Darren Hughes at this incredibly difficult time. We respectfully ask that their privacy is observed.”
