Louise Kimber, a 43-year-old mother from Frampton Court, Wilton, was caught driving dangerously on the A345 near Salisbury on August 11, 2024, with four children in the vehicle. An off-duty police officer witnessed Kimber swerving across the centre line and crashing into a hedge shortly after 4:30pm.
The officer immediately reported the incident to the authorities. Police later located Kimber near Longhedge car park, close to a local shop, where she admitted to being the driver.
A preliminary breath test showed Kimber was more than three times over the legal alcohol limit. She was subsequently arrested and charged with drink driving and careless driving.
On Monday, April 7, 2025, Kimber appeared at Salisbury Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty. The judge sentenced her to a 12-week prison term, suspended for two years. Additionally, she was banned from driving for 60 months and ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.
PC Munns from Salisbury Team 1A Response commented, “Drink driving is one of the ‘Fatal Five’ offences causing serious road crashes. Kimber risked not only her own life, but those four children in the car and everyone else on the road. There is never an excuse to drive after drinking.”
The local community expressed shock and anger that Kimber was driving intoxicated with four children in the car. Many praised the quick actions of the off-duty officer and supported the court’s strict sentence.
Wiltshire Police remind the public that drink driving will never be tolerated. They urge anyone who suspects a driver has been drinking to report it immediately. Stay safe, stay sober.
