Orpington Dealer Jailed for Dangerous Drug Dump on M20
A drug dealer from Orpington has been locked up for four years after trying to ditch drugs from a moving car on the M20 motorway.
High-Speed Chase on the M20
At 6.30pm on Friday 15 November 2024, police tried to stop Akindele Balogun’s car in Ashford, Kent. Officers knew he’d broken his bail conditions. Balogun, 43, was on license for previous drug supply offences and under investigation for breaching probation rules—like sneaking out of London and lying about his address.
When police switched on blue lights and sirens, Balogun didn’t stop. He sped erratically between lanes and used the hard shoulder. During the reckless chase, cops spotted him throwing white packages onto the motorway.
Drugs Found After Police Box-In
Officers boxed the car in and arrested Balogun. A search found two wraps of cocaine and two phones inside the car. Police recovered four more wrapped Class A drugs from the hard shoulder where they’d been tossed.
Balogun was taken to Folkestone Police Station and charged with supplying Class A drugs.
Crack, Heroin and Cash Busted at Home
The next day, police raided his home in Emerald House, Orpington. Inside his bedroom, officers uncovered a large block of crack cocaine and heroin hidden in shorts pockets. Another heroin block was stashed in a utility cupboard, alongside £450 in cash hidden in the kitchen.
Convicted and Sentenced
After a weeklong trial at Canterbury Crown Court, Balogun was found guilty of two counts of possession with intent to supply on 2 February 2026. A month later, he was sentenced to four years behind bars.
Detective Constable Martin Aird said: “Balogun showed a clear determination to evade officers and dispose of evidence while driving dangerously on a busy motorway. He put other drivers at risk, and thanks to the quick actions of pursuing officers, the vehicle was safely stopped.
I welcome the sentence handed down by the justice system, and hope it serves as a warning to anyone considering entering the drug trade and believing they can outrun the consequences.”
