Rida Kazem, aged 23, has been charged after a fatal crash at Park Royal Underground station that led to the death of 33-year-old Yagmur Ozden. The Range Rover Ms Ozden was travelling in was sent crashing onto the Tube tracks following a high-speed collision involving Kazem’s vehicle and a Tesla.
Kazem faces serious charges including causing serious injury by reckless driving and failing to provide a blood sample. He was released on bail and is scheduled to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on January 10.
The victim, Yagmur Ozden, was a beautician from Finchley originally from Baghdad, Iraq. She died in the early hours of August 22. Her family has been informed and is receiving support from the Metropolitan Police in the aftermath of the tragedy.
The Metropolitan Police launched a large-scale response following the crash, including the use of cranes to remove the wreckage from the Tube tracks. A 26-year-old woman was also taken to hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.
An inquest into Ms Ozden’s death began in August but was adjourned due to her work commitments in London. This fatal incident has raised serious concerns about road safety near Tube lines in the Park Royal area.
