A 71-year-old cyclist has tragically died after a collision with a single decker bus in Cosham, Portsmouth, earlier today.
The fatal crash occurred just before 9.30am on Northern Road. The elderly man was cycling north on his black bike when the accident happened.
He was rushed to Southampton General Hospital with a serious head injury but sadly passed away later.
Officers partially closed Northern Road for several hours while they investigated the incident.
Police Sergeant Andy Gwyer of the Eastern Roads Policing Unit said, “We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen what happened, or anything leading up to it. In particular, we want to speak to passengers who were on the bus, as some got off to offer assistance.”
