Burglar Busted! Crawley Thief Jailed for Tesco and Starbucks Raids

Two Burglaries in Days

A 22-year-old crook hit two local businesses in Crawley within days – and now he’s behind bars. Harvey Brackpool, with no fixed address, cracked open charity boxes and nicked goods during daring raids.

On November 8, Brackpool smashed into the Tesco Express on Commonwealth Drive, snatching cigarettes and a charity box. Just two days later, he targeted the Starbucks at Queens Square, stealing another charity box and sparking alarm among local shop owners.

Quick Arrest and Court Justice

Sussex Police didn’t hang about. They arrested Brackpool on December 9, charging him the same day. At Crawley Magistrates’ Court on December 10, he pled guilty to both burglaries. The judge slammed his “flagrant disregard for people and their property” and sentenced him to 24 weeks in prison. He’s also been ordered to pay £100 in compensation.

Police Vow to Protect Local Shops

Chief Inspector Steve Turner, Crawley and Mid Sussex District Commander, hailed the swift police action. “We’re determined to bring burglars like Brackpool to justice,” he said. “Our teams worked hard to charge him quickly and send a clear message: crime against our community won’t be tolerated.”

Community on Alert

The incidents cast a spotlight on Sussex Police’s focus on protecting local businesses and residents. They urge the public to report any suspicious behaviour to keep Crawley safe.
