A grim discovery in Dover has led to a man and woman facing murder charges. On Tuesday 1 October 2019, Kent Police were called to Cowgate Cemetery, Albany Place, at around 7am following the discovery of a body.
Officers and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene where 55-year-old Piotr Lacheta was found with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Two suspects were quickly arrested as detectives from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched a murder investigation.
On Thursday 3 October 2019, the Crown Prosecution Service authorised murder charges against Claire Lunn, 47, and Justin Burnett, 37, both of no fixed address. The pair have been remanded in custody and are set to appear at Margate Magistrates’ Court on Friday 4 October.
Detective Chief Inspector Gavin Moss said: “We are still seeking witnesses and ask anyone with information to come forward as we continue with our enquiries. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank those people we have spoken to so far.”
