Two people were arrested in Wiltshire after police stopped a car suspected of carrying drugs on the evening of 14 February. The incident took place in Chippenham following a tip-off from a vigilant local resident who reported suspected drug dealing.
The Local Policing Tasking Team (LPTT) acted quickly and pulled over a black Ford Fiesta on London Road. Upon searching the vehicle, officers found a large quantity of white powder, believed to be class A drugs, along with significant amounts of cash, weighing scales, and several mobile phones.
A roadside drug wipe test confirmed that the driver, an 18-year-old man, had traces of cannabis and cocaine in his system. The 20-year-old female passenger was also searched. Further searches of residences connected to the suspects uncovered additional drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Both individuals were arrested and taken into custody. They have since been released on bail pending ongoing investigations.
PC Hughes of the Wiltshire LPTT emphasised the importance of community involvement, stating, “Reports and intelligence submissions from the public are crucial. We encourage everyone to report suspicious activity of any scale so we can continue to provide an effective response.”
Wiltshire Police have urged local residents with information about drug offences to contact them via 101 or to report anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
