Nicholas Parkinson, a child predator from Leigh, Wigan, has been sentenced to 13 years in prison at Bolton Crown Court. Parkinson was found guilty on eight counts of indecent assault and two counts of indecency with a child.

The court heard that Parkinson targeted vulnerable children, all under the age of 10 at the time the offences were committed.

Detective Constable Cheryl Williams from Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team praised the victims for their courage. She said, “Nicholas Parkinson is a predator of the worst kind and this sentence is the culmination of a lengthy and complex investigation.”

Detective Williams added, “I would like to commend the strength of the victims, who have shown significant bravery in supporting this prolonged prosecution.”

Speaking about the sentence, Detective Williams said, “Although this sentence cannot undo the horrors these children endured, I hope they take some comfort knowing Parkinson is behind bars for many years and no longer a threat.”

Police are urging anyone affected by sexual assault to come forward. Detective Williams assured, “We will listen to you and we will investigate.”
