Police are urgently searching for witnesses after a shocking shooting in Camden left a seven-year-old girl in a life-threatening condition. The brutal attack took place during a church funeral service on Phoenix Road, NW1, shortly after 1.30pm on Saturday, 14 January.
Emergency services, including officers, London Ambulance Service, and Air Ambulance crews, rushed to the scene. Four women aged between 41 and 54 were shot, with one 48-year-old woman suffering potentially life-changing injuries. Additionally, a 21-year-old woman was hospitalised, though her condition has not been confirmed.
Two children were caught up in the incident. The seven-year-old girl remains critically ill in hospital, while a 12-year-old girl sustained a minor leg injury and has since been discharged.
Early police investigations indicate that the shots were fired from a moving vehicle that sped away after the attack. No arrests have been made so far, but officers are working swiftly to identify and apprehend those responsible.
Superintendent Ed Wells commented: “Any shooting is unacceptable, but for multiple people, including two children, to be caught up in this on a Saturday afternoon is especially shocking. Our thoughts are with all the victims, particularly the seven-year-old girl and her family.”
He added, “We’re fully committed to finding and bringing the perpetrators to justice. Expect to see a much stronger police presence in Camden over the coming days as the investigation continues.”
Superintendent Wells urged the public, “If you witnessed anything or have information, please come forward. You can contact the police or anonymously reach out to Crimestoppers.”
