Terrifying 40-Minute Attack Ends with Jail for Brutal Abuser
A 22-year-old man blasted into a nightmare, punching a woman in the face before grabbing a kitchen knife and threatening to rape and stab her each time she made a sound. The harrowing 40-minute ordeal left the victim terrified for her life and her unborn child’s safety.
Woman’s Brave Escape and Damage Left Behind
Despite the terror, the woman managed to flee the property and raise the alarm. When she returned with police, she found a £500 TV smashed to bits and a bathroom door punched through.
Jail Time and Restraining Order for Dangerous Offender
Jordan Metcalfe, of no fixed abode, was arrested and charged with making threats to kill, common assault, and criminal damage over the October 31 attack last year. He pleaded guilty and was jailed for two years at Teesside Crown Court. A three-year restraining order was also imposed to protect the victim.
Police Urge Abuse Victims to Speak Out
“This was a terrifying ordeal for the woman, who not only feared for her life but for the life of her unborn child,” said Lead Investigator Heidi Weir from durham-constabulary/" title="Durham Constabulary" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Durham Constabulary.
“She showed great bravery by escaping, raising the alarm and helping police bring Metcalfe to justice. He is a very dangerous and controlling individual, and now he’s off the streets.”
Weir added a message for abuse victims: “If you are suffering at the hands of an abuser, please come forward and speak to us. Taking that first step may seem daunting but you are not alone. Our specially trained officers will support you every step of the way, working tirelessly to keep you safe and bring your abuser to justice.
