Grandad Walks Free After Trying to Drown Daughter-In-Law
A British grandfather has stunned onlookers by escaping jail after admitting he tried to drown his own daughter-in-law. Mark Gibbon, 62, from Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, pleaded guilty to battery, not attempted murder, in a shocking courtroom twist.
Pool Horror Stopped by 9-Year-Old Hero
Last August, at Florida’s Solterra Resort, Gibbon allegedly pushed girlfriend Jasmine Wyld’s head underwater repeatedly in a swimming pool. The 33-year-old suffered scratches and bruises but was saved by her nine-year-old daughter who jumped in to stop the attack.
Family Feud Turns Violent as Son Drives Porsche at Dad
The messy family saga took a hairpin turn when Gibbon’s son, Alex, 34, caught Wyld in his father’s bed. Furious, he drove a Porsche at Gibbon during a heated showdown. Alex is now behind bars for two years for the incident, deepening the family rift.
Daughter-In-Law Pleads for Mercy, Social Services Step In
In a bizarre plea, Wyld defended Gibbon in court, calling him a “good man” who “adores his family.” She insists she trusts him despite the violent attack. UK social services have since contacted her, following the explosive case that’s now made headlines worldwide.
Facing up to 15 years originally, Gibbon’s light sentence leaves a shattered family and plenty of questions hanging in the air.
