Londoner Jailed for Rape on Brighton Beach After Shocking Morning Attack
Rapist Caught Red-Handed by Police and Witnesses
Ali Mozaffari, 37, from Golders Green Road, was locked up after raping a vulnerable woman on Brighton beach in the early hours of 10 September 2023. Thanks to quick-thinking witnesses who dialled 999, police arrived at the scene near Brighton Palace Pier and caught Mozaffari in the act.
The predator tried to play dead to escape arrest but was swiftly apprehended. Specialist officers immediately supported the victim.
Six Years and Nine Months Behind Bars
Mozaffari pleaded guilty at Lewes Crown Court on 2 February 2024. On 22 January, he was sentenced to six years and nine months in prison for the brutal crime.
Police Praise Victim’s Bravery and Urge Public to Stay Vigilant
Detective Constable Clare Byrnes hailed the victim’s courage and the witnesses’ fast action. “Thanks to the rapid response of our officers, Mozaffari was caught in the act and taken into custody,” she said. “The victim has shown immense bravery in helping bring a dangerous predator to justice.”
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Phillips from Brighton’s Safeguarding Investigations Unit reassured locals about safety. “Brighton is a safe place, but incidents like these remind us why we take policing the night-time economy so seriously,” he said. “If you are a victim of crime, or see something suspicious, report it to us immediately.”
