A Winchester home remains sealed off and guarded by police after the body of a man, identified locally as Carl Scott, was discovered just after 5pm on Wednesday.
Shock in Quiet Neighbourhood
Neighbours described Carl as a “really nice guy” who kept to himself. One resident, who lives alone in the normally peaceful street, said they were shocked to hear it was him. “It’s usually very quiet down this end of the road,” they said. “Seeing all the police and the road cordoned off was quite worrying.”
One neighbour recalled a murder nearby around ten years ago, saying, “That really hit everyone. Carl was such a good lad.”
Tragic Discovery and Police Response
Police were called at 5.31pm on Wednesday 22 March after a man’s body was found at a property on Birch Court, off Thurmond Crescent. Officers confirmed it was Carl Scott. A police cordon remains in place while investigations continue.
Three teams of forensic officers have been combing the scene. Police cars and vans have been parked on the road all day, sparking a buzz of concern among residents.
Family and Friends Mourn
Carl’s mother visited the property this morning after not hearing from her son for a few days. Friends have paid moving tributes. Danny Poole said, “Well Carl Scott, we had some mad times in the short time I knew you – 7, 8 months. You were a good fella. Rest in peace, mate.”
