A bomb scare has caused significant disruption at Romford Magistrates’ Court, resulting in a full evacuation and a large emergency services response. The alarm was raised just after 9am on Monday, creating alarm along Main Road.
The court building and nearby premises were promptly evacuated as police deployed sniffer dogs to conduct a thorough search for explosives. The incident began after a call was received at the magistrates’ office, which immediately notified the police.
A police cordon now surrounds the area, with officers and specialist units also seen at Romford Town Hall, located a short distance away. The situation remains tense as authorities carry out their investigation.
The Metropolitan Police have been contacted for comment regarding the incident.
