A 20-year-old man from Birmingham has been sentenced to over four years in prison after supplying crack cocaine in Tamworth, despite previously receiving a suspended sentence for similar crimes.
Mohammed Hassan, who lives on Bromford Road, pleaded guilty at Stafford Crown Court to charges of supplying crack cocaine and possession of criminal property, including £135 in cash. The offences occurred during a transaction on 15 October in Maitland, Glascote.
When police detained Hassan at an address in Maitland, they discovered a small rock of crack cocaine, cannabis, cash, and mobile phones.
Hassan had already been given a two-year sentence suspended for 18 months in September, after admitting possession with intent to supply heroin and crack cocaine in Tamworth in April. Despite this, he continued dealing drugs, ignoring the court’s previous warning.
On 13 November, Stafford Crown Court sentenced Hassan to four years and six months in prison for his continued offences.
Detective Inspector Tim Boulton of Staffordshire Police said, “Hassan had received a suspended sentence and continued to offend, dealing drugs in Tamworth. I hope this is a clear message that we will target those who think they can deal drugs and cause misery in our communities. We will continue to work hard, gather intelligence and bring offenders before the courts.”
