A woman has died after a high-speed crash involving a Bentley in Barnet. Emergency services responded to the collision on Colney Hatch Lane at 10.12pm, where they found a badly damaged Vauxhall Astra and a luxury Bentley Continental sports car.
Police believe two men were in the Bentley, which fled the scene before officers arrived. One of the Astra’s passengers was critically injured in the collision and was rushed to hospital. Sadly, the victim passed away three days later on August 23.
The victim’s family have been informed and are receiving specialist support during this difficult time.
On Monday, police arrested a 28-year-old man on suspicion of causing serious injury by reckless driving. He has since been released on bail and is due to appear in court late next month.
Detective Inspector Ian Watson of the Metropolitan Police’s Road and Transport Policing Command said, “My thoughts are with the girl’s family as they come to terms with this devastating news. We will do everything we can to support them during this difficult time.”
He added, “Our investigation into how the collision happened is ongoing. I urge anyone with information about what happened to come forward if they haven’t already.”
