Women Together: Ashford Gears Up for Empowerment Event
A fresh wave of female empowerment is set to take place in Ashford on Friday, December 6, 2024. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Kent Police Community Liaison Officer Catherine Stevens will host the third Women Together event at The Spearpoint Pavilion, Kennington.
A Day Packed with Power and Purpose
Following a successful turnout of 40 women in Willesborough last month, the event returns to boost confidence and safety for women across Ashford. Attendance is free and includes a variety of talks, workshops, and essential advice focused on personal wellbeing and protection.
Community leaders and councillors, along with Ashford DJ Sam Griffin, will headline the talks. Kent Police will provide updates on efforts to tackle violence against women and girls. Attendees can participate in a self-defence class led by a seventh Dan Grand Master of Taekwondo and enjoy a lively Bollywood dance workshop to relieve stress. The event also offers opportunities to connect with charities and support groups providing wellbeing advice and local assistance.
Big Names Backing the Cause
The event will be officially opened by Ashford’s Mayor Lyn Suddards, with community figures leading empowering discussions throughout the morning. Catherine Stevens commented, “Women Together has become a vital platform for bringing women in our community together, providing them with the resources and confidence to feel safer and more supported.”
