Man Charged with Terror Offence After Chiswick Arrest
Austrian national Magomed-Husejn Dovtaev, 30, has been charged with a terror offence following a swift Met Police Counter Terrorism Command investigation.
Details of the Charge and Court Appearance
Dovtaev was charged in the early hours of Monday, 13 February, with collecting information likely to be useful for terrorism, under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000. He first appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 14 February and has been remanded in custody. His next court date is set for 3 March at the Old Bailey.
Arrest at Chiswick Business Park Raises Concerns
Dovtaev was arrested on 11 February at Chiswick Business Park. Commander Richard Smith, head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, acknowledged the community’s worry:
“We understand an arrest like this in this location may cause concern among locals and workers. Detectives acted quickly to gather evidence leading to the charge, and we continue to support the prosecution.”
He added that enhanced security measures had been in place at Chiswick Business Park since late last year. “We urge the public to stay alert but not alarmed, and to report any suspicious activity immediately.”
