Man Jailed for Brutal Assault on Woman Despite Court Order in Canterbury

Man Jailed for Brutal Attacks Despite Court Order

Aiden Hubbard-Stewart defied a court order and viciously attacked a woman he knew – twice. The 21-year-old dragged her through a nightmare of violence in Canterbury this summer.

From Slap to Serious Assault

It started on June 11 at Canterbury East railway station. Although Hubbard-Stewart was bound by a non-molestation order, he stalked the victim and another woman, slapped her in the face, and snatched her phone. He later returned it through a relative.

Not done yet, Hubbard-Stewart bombarded the witnesses with messages, trying to force them into silence.

Second Attack Leaves Woman Seriously Injured

On July 7, just days after the court order expired, he followed the woman near Forty Acres Road, threatened her, then punched her to the ground. The assault left her with serious injuries requiring long-term medical care.

Arrest, Charges, and Jail

  • Hubbard-Stewart was arrested on July 10 while attempting to escape through a window in Cliftonville.
  • He was charged with unlawful wounding, assault, witness intimidation, and breaching the non-molestation order.
  • On August 13, he admitted the offences at Canterbury Crown Court.
  • On September 10, Hubbard-Stewart was sentenced to four years behind bars and slapped with an indefinite restraining order to protect the victim and her family.

Detective Constable Sam Mayne said: “Hubbard-Stewart put this victim through a harrowing ordeal. I praise her courage in supporting this investigation and prosecution.”

“I hope the swift justice offers her some comfort as she recovers from these distressing offences.”

“Anyone facing harassment or abuse should contact Kent Police immediately. We’ll work with you and pursue offenders to the full extent of the law.”
