Two teenagers have been arrested after police recovered a stolen moped during an operation in Welling.
The moped, reported stolen on April 4, was spotted by officers and fled into Oxleas Woods. Officers from the Metropolitan Police’s Roads and Transport Policing Command (MPS RTPC) later sighted the vehicle travelling on Shooters Hill.

To prevent a dangerous pursuit and protect the public, officers used tactical contact to safely stop the moped.
Two 16-year-old suspects were arrested at the scene on suspicion of vehicle theft and related offences. The stolen moped has been recovered as part of the ongoing investigation.
A spokesperson for Bexley MPS said:
“Thanks to swift action and coordinated efforts, a stolen moped was recovered and two suspects were taken into custody. This operation highlights our commitment to community crime fighting and keeping the public safe.
The arrests come amid ongoing efforts by Bexley Police to crack down on motorcycle, moped, and scooter-related offences across the borough.
Anyone with information about vehicle thefts in the area is encouraged to contact the Met Police or report anonymously via Crimestoppers.
