Staffordshire Police are investigating a tragic collision that resulted in the deaths of two teenagers last night, Saturday 25 May, near Penkridge.

The fatal single-vehicle crash occurred on Cannock Road. West Midlands Ambulance Service alerted police just before midnight about the incident involving four people.

Emergency crews arrived shortly after and worked to save the victims. Unfortunately, the driver, an 18-year-old male, and a 17-year-old front-seat passenger were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two 17-year-old female passengers were seriously injured and taken to hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

Sergeant Richard Moors from the Staffordshire and West Midlands Collision Investigation Unit said, “This is a tragic incident. Our thoughts are with the families and loved ones of the young people who have lost their lives and those injured.”

He added, “Specialist officers are supporting the families at this difficult time and we ask for their privacy to be respected. A full investigation is underway to establish the cause of the collision.”

Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the vehicle prior to the accident to come forward. Witnesses can contact Staffordshire Police by emailing [email protected], calling 101 and quoting incident number 813 of 25 May, or using the Live Chat feature on the police website.
