Fire crews were scrambled to a house in Forest Grove, Tonbridge, at 5:01 a.m. following reports of a kitchen fire. The Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) dispatched four fire engines to tackle the blaze.
Firefighters, equipped with breathing apparatus, quickly extinguished the flames using high-pressure hose jets.
Emergency teams rescued one occupant from the burning property. The individual was handed over to South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) for treatment after inhaling smoke. Their current condition remains unknown.
The fire is believed to have started due to burnt food left unattended. Kent Fire and Rescue issued a stern reminder: “Never leave cooking unattended,” warns Kent Fire and Rescue Service. “Kitchen fires are one of the most common household fire dangers.”
The fire was brought under control by 5:35 a.m. and crews have now left the scene. Authorities urge everyone to install and regularly test smoke alarms. They also advise staying alert when cooking to avoid similar tragedies.
