Police are searching for witnesses following a fatal crash on a busy road in Halifax that claimed three lives. The incident occurred on Keighley Road near Cobblestones Drive in Illingworth on 18 March at 6.50pm.
Two men, aged 22 and 21, died instantly in a Ford Fiesta involved in the collision. A 21-year-old passenger from the same vehicle was ejected and sustained life-threatening injuries. They were immediately taken to hospital for treatment.
A BMW carrying three Halifax residents—a 37-year-old man and two women aged 18 and 32—was also involved in the crash. All three occupants of the BMW were arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remain in police custody.
The third vehicle involved was a stationary Renault Clio, which was unoccupied at the time of the collision.
Keighley Road remains closed as police continue their investigation into the crash. Detective Sergeant Paul Lightowler expressed condolences, saying, “Our thoughts go out to the family and friends of those who died. Specially trained officers are supporting the families involved.”
He added, “This is a tragic incident, and extensive enquiries are ongoing at the scene. We urge anyone who was in the area yesterday evening and witnessed the collision to come forward. We are also keen to see any dash-cam footage showing the vehicles before the crash.”
