A 16-year-old boy was arrested early Tuesday after a dramatic single-vehicle crash on Rainham’s High Street.

The crash occurred just after 3:20 AM near Otterham Quay Lane. The car overturned, smashing nearby traffic lights and scattering debris across the road.

Emergency services, including Kent Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb), rushed to the scene. Images from the incident show the vehicle flipped onto its roof, causing disruption on the normally quiet street.

Kent Police confirmed the teenager was arrested on suspicion of driving without a licence or insurance and taking the vehicle without the owner’s consent.

“Kent Police was called at around 3:20 AM following a single-vehicle collision on High Street, Rainham. Officers attended and arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of driving without a licence or insurance, and taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent,” said a Kent Police spokesperson.

The teenager was treated at the scene and then taken as a precaution to Medway Maritime Hospital. Police reported that no serious injuries were sustained and no other individuals were hurt.

A SECAmb spokesperson added: “We were called at approximately 3:25 AM to reports of a single-vehicle collision on the High Street in Rainham. One patient was assessed and treated at the scene before being taken to hospital for further medical care.”

The crash caused traffic delays while crews cleared the wreckage and repaired the damaged traffic lights. Kent Police are continuing their investigation and have urged anyone with information to come forward, citing this incident.
