A shocking altercation took place at Bromley College in South East London when a student grabbed a teacher by the neck and put him into a headlock. The confrontation escalated from the classroom into a corridor, where both the student and teacher ended up on the floor in a heated struggle.
The incident, which occurred in January 2023, was captured on video and quickly went viral online. The footage has amassed over 270,000 views on Twitter. It shows the teacher pinning the student down before they both get back on their feet, with bystanders urging them to “leave it” and warning, “don’t get sacked over it.” The video caption reads, “Teacher 1, student 0.”
In response to the incident, Bromley College acted swiftly by launching an internal investigation and notifying the police. After a thorough review, the student involved was expelled from the college. A spokesperson for Bromley College emphasised that the situation was “not a fight” but was managed professionally by trained staff.
The spokesperson said: “The safety and safeguarding of all students is our priority. We do not accept violence. Immediate action was taken, and the employee is receiving full support.”
The Metropolitan Police have been contacted for further information regarding the ongoing investigation. Bromley College confirmed that the teacher received full support throughout the incident and reiterated that such behaviour will not be tolerated in the future.
