A white Volvo 4×4 SUV stolen from Manor Park, E12, on Monday, 14 June, is central to a murder investigation in East London. Police believe the vehicle remained in the local area until it was involved in a shooting on Raymond Road, E13, on Wednesday, 18 August.
The car was subsequently found on fire in the early hours of Thursday, 19 August, intensifying the ongoing investigation.
Detective Inspector Louise Caveen from the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command said: “Discovering more about this car and who was driving it before the shooting is vital. We urge anyone in Upton Park and Forest Gate to check their CCTV, dashcams, or doorbell footage for the Volvo.”
She added: “Think back to last week. Did you see this Volvo parked near your house or driving suspiciously? Even small details could help us bring justice for Otas’ family.”
“If you were near Raymond Road on the night of the shooting and haven’t spoken to police yet, please get in touch or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”
Otas Sarkus, from Plaistow, was shot at about 10.45pm on Wednesday, 18 August, and sadly died two days later on Friday, 20 August. To date, no arrests have been made in connection with the case.
Police are asking anyone with information to call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously to assist with the investigation.
