A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of murder after two children were found dead at a house on Corporation Street, Stafford.

Emergency services responded to the scene just after 7:30am on Sunday following an urgent alert from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Staffordshire Police confirmed that the children were pronounced dead at the scene, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Detective Inspector Kirsty Oldfield said, “We are working hard to understand more about what happened leading up to these two children tragically losing their lives.”

She added, “We ask that people do not speculate at this stage as it is distressing for family and friends and could hinder our enquiries.”
