Prime Video has launched the gripping true crime documentary, Chasing a Killer: Gary Allen, in the UK and Ireland today, 22 February. This two-part series delves deep into one of South Yorkshire’s darkest crimes and the relentless police pursuit of Gary Allen, the cold-blooded killer behind two brutal murders spanning more than 20 years.

The twisted murders committed by Gary Allen began in 1997 when he murdered 29-year-old Samantha Class in Hull. Her body was discovered dumped in the Humber estuary. Over two decades later, in 2018, Allen struck again, killing 38-year-old Alena Grlakova, a mother of four from Rotherham, whose body was left in Parkgate.

Allen was initially acquitted of Samantha Class’s murder. However, prosecutors retried him under the double jeopardy law. Chasing a Killer exposes the gripping joint police investigation and courtroom battles that ultimately secured Allen’s conviction for both horrific crimes.
