An elderly man, aged 77, has died after a shocking assault in Wendover. The incident occurred yesterday evening on Aylesbury Road when police were called to reports of an assault inside a property.

The 77-year-old victim was found with serious injuries and sadly died at the scene.

A 36-year-old man from Aylesbury has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody. Detectives have confirmed that the victim and suspect knew each other, although the exact motive behind the assault is still unknown.

Detective Superintendent Kevin Brown of the Major Crime Team expressed condolences to the victim’s family and stated that the investigation is still at an early stage. He also warned of possible disruption in the area as police continue their inquiries.

Police have appealed to anyone with information to contact Thames Valley Police on 101, quoting reference number 43210144403. Alternatively, anonymous tips can be provided to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are receiving specialist support during this difficult time.
