Greater Manchester Police have launched a murder investigation following the discovery of a 43-year-old woman found dead on Hyde Road in Manchester on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

Officers and emergency services were called to the scene around 11:20 BST after concerns were raised about the woman’s welfare. Despite urgent resuscitation attempts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 52-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and is currently in custody, undergoing questioning. The force’s Professional Standards Branch is reviewing the case due to previous contact with the individuals involved.

Detective Superintendent Helen Critchley, head of Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team, offered her condolences to the victim’s family and friends. She confirmed that specialist officers are providing support to the family during this difficult time.

“We believe this was an isolated incident,” Critchley said, reassuring local residents. She also urged anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward as it is vital to the ongoing investigation.
