East Grinstead MP Takes On Train Chaos
Mims Davies MP confronted the rail mess at East Grinstead station on Wednesday 28th September. Angry locals fed up with constant cancellations and shoddy service finally had their voices heard.
Urgent Talks Sought to Fix Rail Woes
Mims didn’t stop there. She’s written to the Secretary of State for Transport demanding an urgent sit-down. Her goal? To nail down how the government will hold Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) accountable and guarantee proper train services for East Grinstead and Mid Sussex residents.
Rail Minister Promises Improvements
Kevin Foster MP, the new Rail Minister, has responded. He told Mims the Department for Transport ordered GTR to prioritise services efficiently and adapt to passengers’ needs moving forward.
From December 2022, commuters can expect two added Thameslink peak trains:
- 06:44 and 07:44 departures from East Grinstead towards London
- 17:10 and 17:40 from London Bridge back to East Grinstead
This will mean half-hourly trains during the busy morning and evening rush hours, making journeys less of a nightmare.
Minister to Meet MP Over Constituents’ Concerns
The Rail Minister has also pledged to meet Mims in person to discuss ongoing problems. Mims promises to keep her constituents updated every step of the way.
