Mims Davies Takes On East Grinstead’s Rail Chaos
MP Confronts Train Troubles Head-On
On Wednesday 28th September, Mims Davies MP met frustrated commuters at East Grinstead train station. They’re fed up with constant cancellations and shoddy service hitting their daily journeys.
Demanding Action from the Top
Mims has fired off a letter to the Secretary of State for Transport, calling for an urgent sit-down to sort out the mess. She wants clear plans to hold Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR) accountable and boost services for East Grinstead and the wider Mid Sussex area.
Rail Minister Promises Improvements
Good news arrived from new Rail Minister Kevin Foster MP. The Department for Transport has ordered GTR to prioritise and adapt services based on passenger needs.
From December 2022, there will be two extra Thameslink peak trains: 06:44 and 07:44 departures from East Grinstead, plus 17:10 and 17:40 trains from London Bridge. This means a half-hourly service during key morning and evening rush hours.
More Talks Ahead
Minister Kevin Foster has pledged a meeting with Mims to tackle the ongoing problems. The MP promises to keep her constituents in the loop as she fights for better trains and dependable travel.
