Kent Police have opened a murder investigation following the brutal bludgeoning death of a man in a flat located on Sandhurst Place, Margate.
Emergency services were called to the new-build property just after 2am on Saturday, 12 October 2019.
One resident reported hearing chilling screams before armed police and paramedics arrived at the scene.
Specialist crime teams have been searching the Aldi car park nearby and surrounding properties in an effort to locate the weapon used in the attack.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene. Kent Police confirmed that a suspect has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. Both the victim and the suspect were known to each other.
The Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate is leading the investigation. Officers remain at the scene as inquiries into the killing continue.
A Kent Police spokesperson said: “Kent Police was called to a property in Sandhurst Place, Margate at 2am on Saturday 12 October, 2019. Officers and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene where a man in his 40s was declared deceased.”
