Kent firefighters rushed to a car blaze on the M20 motorway heading into London between junctions 8 and 9 near Ashford. The fire broke out during rush hour, causing panic and significant traffic delays.
Two fire engines arrived promptly at the scene. Fire crews equipped with breathing apparatus tackled the flames using high-pressure hoses. Their quick response prevented the fire from spreading further along the motorway.
Emergency teams treated one injured person at the scene before handing them over to South East Coast Ambulance Service paramedics for urgent hospital treatment.
The cause of the car fire remains unknown and is currently under police investigation.
