A 24-year-old woman from Gosport has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her 13-week-old baby, Hampshire police confirmed today.
Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service rushed to a property in Howe Road, Gosport, after reports of a seriously ill infant. Despite their frantic efforts, the baby was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at the scene.
Hampshire Constabulary immediately launched a serious investigation and arrested the mother on suspicion of murder. She has since been released under investigation as inquiries continue.
“Enquiries into the exact circumstances and the cause of death are ongoing,” said a Hampshire police spokesperson.
