A 24-year-old woman from Gosport has been arrested on suspicion of murdering her 13-week-old baby. Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service raised the alarm after discovering the seriously ill infant at a home in Howe Road, Gosport.
Despite desperate efforts by emergency services at the scene, the baby was sadly pronounced dead shortly after their arrival. Police were called in by paramedics when they were unable to save the child’s life.
Hampshire Constabulary confirmed that the woman has been released under investigation. A spokesperson said: “Enquiries into the exact circumstances and the cause of death are ongoing.” They added, “A 24-year-old woman from Gosport was arrested on suspicion of murder and has since been released under investigation.”
