Detectives from Sussex Police are investigating after a 66-year-old man was found with serious head injuries in Heathcote Drive, East Grinstead, in the early hours of Wednesday, January 25.

Emergency crews from SECAmb arrived at the scene around 1:15am to provide treatment before the man was rushed to hospital. He remains in a serious condition.

It is believed the man had travelled from London by train prior to being discovered by a member of the public.

Detective Inspector Dan McCarthy said: “Our detectives are working hard to establish how the man sustained these injuries. We are keeping an open mind as we explore several lines of enquiry.”

He added: “We urge residents and businesses between the train station and Heathcote Drive to check any CCTV, dash cam, or doorbell footage from around the time of the incident. We’re especially keen to speak to anyone driving in the area at that time.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Sussex Police online or call 101, quoting serial number 47 of 25/01. Alternatively, details can be passed anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
