A dramatic rescue unfolded in Brighton after two people became trapped beneath the iconic Palace Pier.

The Coastguard Search and Rescue helicopter, Rescue 175, was scrambled to the scene to assist emergency crews.

Coastguard teams, police officers, and paramedics from South East Coast Ambulance Service rushed to help. An RNLI lifeboat was also deployed to pull the pair to safety.

It remains unclear whether the two were caught by the tide or were exploring under the pier when they got stuck. Emergency crews stood ready on the shoreline, coordinating the delicate operation.

The victims were quickly scooped into the lifeboat by rescuers. Authorities continue to manage the incident, with updates expected shortly.
