Two people were hurt after a car flipped at the Eastney Esplanade zebra crossing on Tuesday afternoon. Emergency crews were called to the scene just after 12:20pm following a collision involving two vehicles.
The crash occurred near the Coffee Cup café when a car stopped at the zebra crossing was rear-ended by the vehicle behind it. The impact caused the second car to overturn onto its side.
Southsea Firefighters, South Central Ambulance Service paramedics, and the Hampshire Road Policing Unit arrived promptly. They worked together to free both occupants trapped inside the overturned vehicle. Both individuals suffered suspected spinal injuries.
After receiving treatment at the scene, the injured parties were transported to hospital by ambulance. Police have urged motorists to avoid Eastney Esplanade while recovery teams clear the wreckage and work to reopen the road.
