Emergency services rushed to Glebe Meadow Park, Bishopstoke, tonight following a shocking attack. The park was quickly locked down by police who established cordons around the area.
A middle-aged man, who was out walking his dog, was brutally stabbed in the face with a broken bottle by a group of youths. During the incident, there was also a reported second attempt to attack the dog.
This violent assault comes shortly after another stabbing incident nearby, where a teenager was stabbed in the leg at Eastleigh Park. Authorities have expressed concern over a possible rise in youth violence across the region.
Police have arrested two suspects, who are currently in custody at Southampton Central Police Station for questioning. Paramedics from South Central Ambulance Service treated the injured man at the scene before rushing him to hospital for further care.
Hampshire Constabulary’s Major Crime Team has taken over the investigation. Detectives are conducting house-to-house inquiries and have urged the public to share any CCTV footage covering Glebe Meadow Park to assist with the ongoing investigation.
