A quiet Nottinghamshire village was rocked after armed police shot a knife-wielding man in the chest during a tense midnight stand-off. The 56-year-old victim is now in hospital with serious but stable injuries.
Armed Police Move In on Ollerton
Officers rushed to Wellow Road, Ollerton just after midnight on Monday following reports of a “firearm related incident.” Bodycam footage revealed the man was armed with a knife, prompting a swift and dangerous response.
According to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), one officer fired a single shot, hitting the man in the chest. He was immediately taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.
Two Held Over Firearm Suspicion
Police also arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause violence. Both suspects remain in custody as investigations continue.
A large police cordon spans the area around a local caravan park, stretching from Wellow Road to Newark Road and Kelsey Avenue. Locals described the eerie scene as unsettling.
