Police in Barnet have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses after a fatal two-car collision occurred on Thursday, 14 May, at approximately 11.30pm. The crash involved a Volkswagen Golf and a Nissan Qashqai at the junction of Whetstone High Road and Chandos Avenue.

Emergency services, including the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, responded to the scene. Tragically, a man in his 20s, who was the front passenger of the Volkswagen, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two rear passengers in the Volkswagen, a man and a woman also in their 20s, were taken to hospital with serious injuries but are currently in a stable condition. The Volkswagen’s 20-year-old driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death and serious injury by dangerous driving and is receiving hospital treatment.

The Nissan driver, a woman in her 20s, was also taken to hospital but has since been discharged.

Emergency Response Detailed
Police officers worked alongside crews from the London Ambulance Service and Air Ambulance to provide urgent medical assistance at the scene. Despite their efforts, the front passenger of the Volkswagen could not be saved.

Witnesses Urgently Needed
Detective Inspector John Millward of the Metropolitan Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit has appealed for anyone with information, CCTV footage, or dashcam recordings to come forward to assist with the investigation.
