Leicestershire Police have launched an urgent manhunt following the sexual assault of a woman in her 20s near the southbound Leicester Forest East services on the M1 motorway on Saturday evening. The attack happened at about 6.45pm on Baines Lane, close to the services, as the victim was walking towards Hinckley Road. A man grabbed her from behind, pulled her to the ground, and sexually assaulted her before fleeing towards the motorway services.

Suspect Description Released

Officers described the suspect as a white man in his 50s, slim build, with grey hair and a grey beard. He was wearing a black and white short-sleeved top during the incident.

Police Appeal For Witnesses

Detective Inspector Jenny Tattersall is appealing for anyone who was near the services or on Baines Lane between 5pm and 7pm to come forward, especially if they have dashcam footage. She stressed the importance of all information, no matter how small, to aid the investigation.

Victim Support Efforts

Specially trained officers are providing support to the victim as the investigation continues. Police have been conducting further enquiries in the area on Sunday.
