Warwickshire Police have arrested two men following the fatal discovery of a man’s body in Atherstone early Friday morning.

Man Found Dead After Hit-and-Run

The victim, a man in his 50s, was found in Monk’s Park Lane around 1:30am. Police believe he was struck by a vehicle which then fled the scene.

Suspects in Custody

A 23-year-old man from Nuneaton and a 74-year-old from Shifnal were arrested a few hours later. Both face suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, drink driving, and failing to stop after an accident. They have since been released on bail while investigations continue.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

PC Craig Pearson from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “An investigation has begun to understand the full circumstances of this tragic event. We are particularly eager to speak to anyone who saw or has footage of a red Mercedes Vito van near the scene at the time.” “Please check CCTV, doorbell cameras, and dashcams if you were in the area.” “Our thoughts are with the family, who are being supported by a specially trained family liaison officer.”
