Volunteer crews from Littlehampton RNLI sprang into action after spotting a mysterious boat floating about 200 metres off Rustington earlier today.

Empty Tender Found Partially Flooded at Sea

The D-Class lifeboat Spirit of Fidelity discovered a small tender afloat, half-filled with water but with no one on board. The crew quickly deployed a salvage pump to remove the water and towed the vessel safely back to Littlehampton Harbour.

Boat Believed Lost Days Ago on Dorset Coast

It’s now thought the tender had been reported missing several days prior in Dorset, before drifting eastwards along the coast aided by strong currents. Thankfully, no casualties or injuries were reported.

“Thankfully, no one was found in the water and no injuries have been reported,” said an RNLI spokesperson.

This incident highlights the vital role of volunteer lifeboat crews in keeping UK coastal waters safe.
