Police Dog Sniffs Out £90K Cash Stash in Lisburn Raid

Police dog Ice has unearthed a whopping £90,000 hidden under floorboards and stuffed in an attic in Lisburn. The clever spaniel’s keen nose blew open a suspected illegal money-lending ring.

Ice Leads Dramatic Raid on Illegal Money Lending Gang

On 19 February 2026, the PSNI Predatory Lending Team raided three homes on Donard Drive and Tirowen Drive. Their target was a secret underground lending operation. But it was Ice who stole the spotlight, sniffing out locked cash boxes beneath floorboards in two rooms and then detecting more money stashed in the attic.

£90,000 Haul Prompts Arrests

The huge cash find led to the arrests of a 36-year-old man and a 59-year-old woman. Both now face charges of illegal money lending and money laundering under the Proceeds of Crime Act. They have been released on bail while police continue their investigation.

Detective Hails Ice as Hero of the Operation

Detective Inspector O’Hara said PD Ice was “instrumental” in the bust, highlighting the vital role police dogs play in tackling serious financial crime.

This case proves that police dogs do much more than trail suspects through woods. They are essential in dismantling organised crime networks, protecting vulnerable victims, and rooting out illicit cash hidden in the shadows.

Top marks to PD Ice and the PSNI team for cracking down on crime with such a smashing result!
