Two young men have been locked up after admitting to a brutal attack on a sheep near Ditchling Beacon in the picturesque South Downs.

Explosion Horror: Sheep Attacked with Dangerous “Bangers”

Leighton Ashby, 22, from Ashford, and Oakley Hollands, 20, from Horton Kirby, drove out to a field on the night of 2 November 2023. They hunted down a helpless sheep and unleashed a savage assault, using explosive “bangers” that caused horrific injuries.

Disturbing footage shows Ashby carrying out the attack. The videos, found on Hollands’ phone, also include other chilling clips of abuse to live and dead animals. Investigators found the sheep’s ear tags at a nearby home, believed to have been taken by Ashby from the crime scene.

Swift Arrests After Shocking Animal Cruelty

The shocking incident was reported to Sussex Police on 6 November. Officers acted fast, arresting both men within two days. They were charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal and now face justice for their cruel actions.
